Handling Blockages

The majority of blockages that appeared in pipes or drain systems are caused by people’s habits to remove inappropriate things via sinks or toilets. Although, it is worth to mention that such behavior may lead not to blockage only, but to stress and unexpected expenses occurrence.

As the example of the inappropriate substance may be provided grease, fats and different oils, which are mistakenly accepted as safe for drainage systems just because they are liquid. The truth is that these substances become solid over time and till this moment they have time to collect all small rubbish, which all together resulting in a clog.

To avoid such an unpleasant situation it is recommended to remove solid fats and grease to the bin, but not to the sink without matter whether plates are going to be cleared manually of using a dishwasher. The simplest way to do this (often without awaiting while they’ll become solid) is just to wipe it from the place using a paper towel.

Another common reason resulting in clogs is gathered hair in a drain holes. The good way to prevent blockages is periodically clean them from hair, so there will be no possibility to accumulate for them and mix with soap deposits and cause serious issues leading to significant expenses. The good tool to apply is a special trap helping to catch hair and small rubbish before they will get into draining hole.

Speaking about inappropriate things disposed of via drains and toilets it is worth to mention women’s used tampons and other hygiene products. They cannot dissolve there, thus cause clogs. The easy way to avoid this kind of blockage just to have a special bin for such waste.

To other reasons of blockages relate:

  • Inappropriate dispose of food waste;
  • Plastic bags and liners got into the draining holes;
  • Wipes;
  • Needles;
  • Condoms
  • Many other things disposed of in an inappropriate way, which are mainly used in the toilet, bathroom, and kitchen.

Choosing the correct location or preparing the place for a washing machine or dishwasher in advance is an essential step. You should consider than any of these appliances require not only space according to its parameters, but access to cold and hot water, and a socket.You can argue that the hot water supply is unnecessary because modern tool heats the water according automatically according to selected programs, but it’ll also cost additional energy consumption and will be more expensive. Thus take care of both types of water supply.Another important thing to pay attention at is the water pipe’s situation, which is highly recommended to be as close as it possible during installing of both types of machines (washing as well as dishwashing). The best practice is to install these devices close to the sinks, so the dirty water will be properly disposed of and will not get back into pipes for reuse.Tip: before starting installation don’t forget to turn off the supply of the water.

INSTALLATION PROCESS

The first thing you should do is to install special valves for water supply to appliances from hot and cold water pipes. Considering a variety of valves choose the most suitable for such cases t-piece type, which has colored handle marked to distinguish between hot and cold sides.Installation of the valve to the pipe required to cut the hole of the respective size just in the pipe. Thus, the best way to do it is to put down the valve to the pipe, then cut the hole suiting valves diameter, clean it carefully from all the waste so the only material observed at the place of cutting will be cooper, and put the valve there. Connect the appliances’ hose to the central valve’s hole.Olives together with nuts should be put to pipe’s ends. Tight nuts, compress olives thoroughly inside the valve. Check the placement of the rubber washer (it is black). It should be inside the nut made of plastic which belongs to appliances’ hose. Ensure the hose was thoroughly screwed to the valve’s outlet.For cases when the washing machine/dishwashers are situated far from the pipe you might need to insert not hose to the valve, but the copper pipe. Add another valve to the end of the new pipe in order to make a connection between the pipe and appliance.Another option may be available after checking all types of valves which are available in the plumbing shop located near the place you live in. For example, speed fit connection type of valves consider connection by pushing onto the pipe’s end with a washer lock inside of it. So it is secured properly to the pipe. Another option is using of the self-cutting type of the valve, which clamps to the pipe, while a special turning handle can cut the pipe. The hose connection is performed in the same way described above.

WASTEWATER REMOVAL

As was mentioned above for proper wastewater removal it is recommended to place machines close to the sinks. In such a case replace waste fitting by fitting from the appliance connecting the hose directly to the nozzle. Ensure joints are properly sealed. For other cases install standpipe near the wall. You should also connect it to the existing drainage system.Tip: Wastewater must be disposed of via a special trap. The respective hose must go down the standpipe having a distance separating the trap and the tube. The waste pipe’s end must be lower than the drain’s grid.In case you have some additional questions, need consultancy or help call our experts at +1847-868-1800 and you’ll get all you want.
